At Loosey's, the food speaks for itself, particularly their famed jumbo chicken wings. These crispy, deep-fried delicacies come sauced just the way you like it, served with ranch or bleu cheese, and are truly a crowd favorite. Many patrons, like Russ Tyndall, have touted them as the best wings in town. Pair them with their truffle cheese fries for a side dish that elevates the flavor game to new heights.
If you’re in the mood for something heartier, the ChicFilLoosey's buttermilk fried chicken sandwich, complete with dill pickles on a butter toasted challah, is a standout. You can kick it up a notch with the Nashville hot or buffalo hot options. For those who crave a classic, the cheesesteak made with shaved ribeye and complemented by roasted mushrooms and grilled onions is a treat that satisfies. Additionally, the steak frites are worth splurging on, as Paul Short has noted: the flavors are captivating, making it a perfect choice for a night out.
The atmosphere at Loosey's is brimming with energy, from live music that resonates within its walls to trivia nights that draw crowds eager for a challenge. As William Smith experienced, the vibe is undeniably inviting, and it's a place where you can enjoy good food while taking in the lively scene, making every visit a memorable one.
While parking can be a bit tricky—and visitors should be wary of the surrounding area—those who manage to find a spot are rewarded with an experience packed with friendly service and fantastic food. “ Great place to check out if you live in or visiting Gainesville! The food always hits the spot and the drinks are on point. They have seating inside and tons outside. They constantly have shows and events there too. Great sound quality and always a blast! ”
“ Had a delicious steak frites dinner and drinks. It was a show night so there was a cover but it was worth it. Good music, great drinks, friendly and fast staff. ”
“ Probably the best wings in town. It's great they are open on Monday nights when more places are closed. Truffle fries, burgers and fish and chips are all excellent standby standards. ”
“ Great spot delicious burgers. If you are a burger person this is a solid spot. High quality Angus beef. Staff seem pretty nice and inside they host rock bands. They have a variety of beers on tap as well. Just beware about parking do not park in the parking lot across the street you will be booted and towed. There are also a decent amount of homeless walking around so lock your cars! ”
“ From groups of people playing trivia to excellent food, to music I didn't like, to watching hockey on TV, Loosey's was perfect. First there was a line of people outside waiting to order and get seats for the upcoming trivia game. I waited, though I did not play. Inside was a bar that was quite full, loud and very busy. It is a bar. Finally ordered my dinner, it is expensive at Loosey's, be ready to pay. I had the 14 oz Prime Rib Steak. IT WAS PRIME. Best damn steak I have eaten in many years. The fries that came with it were crunchy and delicious. I also ordered a Loosey Salad. It to was great. The servers were all very good and made sure everything was just perfect. Was the food, service and atmosphere worth the 40 price tag for one person? ABSOLUTELY!!!!! I very highly recommend Loosey's. ”
“ Laid back Saturday, cloudy with a chance of rain. I pop in and try some beer samples before going with the cucumber basil gin cocktail, mermaid something (it’s really good and strong ok) Then I decide to apply for a part time gig bc the vibes are immaculate here. They are playing a 90s playlist called “songs you heard in the back seat of your mom’s car.” I then order the kimchi burnt ends and cheese truffle fries and live a life happily ever after bc this place is a special gem in downtown GNV. ”
“ Omg 10 burger night. And these are great burgers. Love the servers, love the mock tails, love the fries. Fun to sit outside with friends. Highly recommend. ”
“ The rating is respective of the place, not overall in the restaurant landscape. It’s what I call a little dusty, divey, with good food and college town specials. Three of us had a burger, a chimichurri chicken and Chic-Fil-Loosey’s Nashville Hot, all with hand cut fries cooked perfectly crisp. The burger was decent sized and cooked well, tasted fresh as did the full set-up, and the chimichurri chicken was good and daughter made it disappear quickly. The Nashville hot was great, crispy, moist and very spicy! I’d do it again! They also have music on weekend nights when we’ve been there. And it’s a good mix of students and some locals, and visiting parents. It has plenty of outdoor seating when then weather’s nice and let’s are welcome. The Sunday drink specials was happy hour all day, great specialty cocktails and Mocktails, I had the 2 PBR tall boy since I was feeling retro collegiate. We’ve been about 4-5 over the years and will continue to support them since we all enjoy the place and the service from Elliott was spot on, bravo!! ”
